For countries such as Bangladesh, remittances from its expatriate communities are a valuable source of income to many residents, especially those living in rural areas and this increase in remittance flows will be gladly welcomed by many communities. However Bangladeshis living overseas may still be put off by the often high charges that Banks and Money Transfer Operators place on money transfers which means that not all of their money makes it to Bangladesh. Furthermore, many of their family members and loved ones may not have access to a bank account which creates an additional difficulty in them actually receiving the money.

However there is a new hope in sight in the form of mobile phone money transfers. Under this system funds can be transferred to the beneficiary’s mobile phone and the money can be collected or used in a variety of different ways.

International money transfer comparison website www.sendmoneyhome.org has collaborated with money transfer software systems provider RemitONE to investigate the scope and the potential of the mobile money market and to find out how increasing numbers of money transfer businesses are opting to develop these channels. RemitONE is the world’s leading provider of software systems for the money transfer markets, providing companies access to the latest cutting edge remittance platforms. SendMoneyHome has been hailed as the ‘benchmark’ money transfer comparison site by Martin Lewis and allows its 50,000 monthly visitors to compare costs, and ultimately save money, when sending money overseas.

The mobile phone platform has already seen phenomenal success in the African market, particularly in Kenya, and is now gaining increasing providence in Bangladesh and the rest of the Indian subcontinent. It is estimated that over 1 million Bangladeshis live and work abroad and the vast majority of these will regularly send money back to their loved ones in Bangladesh.

According to Bangladesh’s Expatriate Welfare Minister Mr. Khondker Mosharraf Hossain, the World Bank is supporting Bangladesh’s effort to introduce remittance transfer through mobile phones in order to make the delivery faster and cheaper. In order to help reduce the high remittance transfer costs that leading Money Transfer Organisations (MTOs) and banks charge the struggling migrant workers who send money back home to families, the World Bank has agreed to provide financial assistance to Bangladesh in setting up a mobile remittance system whereby the recipient can be sent an SMS on their mobile phone which they can then cash at specially designed Automated Teller Machines.

RemitONE has recently launched its Mobile Remittance Module (MRM) which allows banks, MTOs, Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) to offer their customers mobile based money transfer services. It is hoped that Money Transfer Operators that service the Bangladeshi market will strive to make these services available to their users to enable a lower cost, more efficient remittance service.

If remittances flows to Bangladesh continue to grow in the same vein then within 2 years they should account for well over US$10 billion of revenue for the country. It has become increasingly important for both the sender and recipient to be able to maximise the value of their remittance both in terms of cost and speed, which is something that mobile phone technology, such as the platform provided by RemitONE, is able to do.

It has been estimated that there are close to 55 million mobile phone users in Bangladesh which is nearly one third of the population. Comparatively only around 19 million people, or 13%, of the population have access to a bank account which could make receiving remittance payments very difficult. Therefore by being able to utilise their mobile phones to receive remittance payments from loved ones working overseas remittance flows into Bangladesh could be dramatically increased which would provide a huge number of benefits to the local population, particularly in rural regions. With more money available to them spending and investment can increase and communities developed solely through having a mobile phone.

It has been proven that Microfinance has incredible success in helping communities and their residents thrive, mobile phone based remittance has the potential to be an additional tool in which microfinance can be delivered to the population and ensure that affected Bangladeshis can use their remittance to spend money in local stores, start business, develop social infrastructure projects and co-operate with each other to deliver the best for their community.

The campaign launched on April 8 jointly in Bangladesh, Ghana and Afganistan. A press conference was held on the day at Dhaka Reporters Unity Conference Hall moderated by Mustafa Kamal Akanda from Equity and Justice Working group.

The motto of the campaign as we were told was a more democratic world that offers Bangladeshis a chance to vote in the 2010 General UK elections. The position paper was presented in English by Clemmie James form ‘Give Your Vote’ and in Bangla by Atiqul Chowdhury from ‘Use a UK Vote’.

The Use a UK Vote campaign will see thousands of people in Bangladesh voting in the UK election. They will use votes donated by British citizens to decide which one of the UK’s three major political parties – if any – get their support.

UK participants will go to the voting booths on the day of elections and will cast their votes on behalf of individuals in the countries of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Ghana in an act of solidarity and protest. People in Bangladesh are directly affected by decisions taken by UK politicians in Westminster on issues such as climate change, migration, trade and labour. However, these politicians are not accountable to the people they affect.

‘Give Your Vote’ -  as the Campaign is called in the UK – is calling for politicians to be accountable to those their policies affect. It is time to rethink democracy for an inter-connected world. ‘Use a UK Vote’ is hoping to present this campaign to various areas around Banglasdesh, including the island of Kutubdia, Dhaka University and slums in Dhaka.

On the 30^th April using only a mobile phone anyone from Bangladesh can text in their vote to this number + 88 01713144174  – and place a vote for which party they would like to vote for. Then 6^th May UK Citizens will receive a text message telling them the party someone from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Ghana has chosen and their votes will be placed.

Over the next 3 weeks Bangladeshis will be able to pose questions to UK political candidates via the website http://useaukvote.org. Depending on the answers from the politicians they will decide who to vote for. This is an empowering, political and symbolic act.

An Islamist militant body Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) has asked officials of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), International Federation of the Red Crescent (IFRC) and World Food Programme (WFP) to stop work and leave Barisal district immediately in southern Bangladesh.

Three letters written in the name of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh were delivered by postman at the offices of the UNICEF, International Federation of Red Crescent and World Food Programme in the police line area in the Barisal city on Monday. In the letter, the sender asked the chiefs of the three organisations to shut down their operations and quit Bangladesh immediately.

The sender also threatened the officials of dire consequences if they did not follow the order.

Police Official:
Admitting the incident, Police supper of Barisal Mohammed Mahabur Rahman said to E-Bangladesh , they have taken the incident seriously and strengthen the security of the officials of the organization”. He also said they are employing high intelligence surveillance to monitor any kind of terrorist activities. He has assigned his 9 officer in charge of different police station to pray the Friday prayer in different mosques and counsel with the Imam and faithful to fight the Islamic terrorism. He also said that only police will not be able to fight the Islamic Terrorism. People and police should be united against and the Islamic terrorism.

Parliamentarian:
Workers Party lawmaker Rashed Khan Menon said to E-Bangladesh that they may be the connection of this threat to UN and other international originations with the current promise of UN to help Bangladesh war crimes trial planning. Expert and analyst: Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed of International Relations University of Dhaka said to E-Bangladesh that “Who had threatened the UN agencies and other International organization had special agenda indeed”. He said that there may a close relation with the current promise of UN to help Bangladesh government in the war crimes trial planning. He also added that those who have threatened may have international links and trying to convey a specific message through this. Some people are trying to politicize the issues of the trial of war criminals and trying to play the political game with the public issue. The demand of the trail of War criminal is no more political but national concern and demand. Recently the activities of JMB has highly raised over the last month in different operations of different security agencies around 100 people were arrested in suspect link with JMB , the security officials also seized explosives from some of the suspect.

On a recent operation The Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested eight operatives of banned Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) including brother of Salahuddin, a JMB Majlish-e-Shura (highest policy-making body) and recovered bomb-making materials also seized CDs, audiotapes, computer accessories and manuals, and books and leaflets on jihad in the capital . According to the daily Star The seized JMB leaflet reads, “Here comes the Jihadi Kafila (caravan). It will destroy the enemies of Allah and his Prophet (S). It will bury the tyrants, exploiters and the dishonest leaders to bring about an Islamic state.”The leaflet says the “Christian-controlled media gives a distorted view of the Mujahideen’s noble campaign to free the country from the unbelievers”.

Recently the prime Minster sheikh Hasina was also alerted by the Indian high officials about the life threat.

The government should allow different human rights organizations to go inside the Pilkhana and observe the situation.. Specially the team of Doctor and journalist and lawyer and other professional should go inside of the Pilkhana regularly.

আপনি কি মনে করেন গোলাম আজম সত্যিকার অর্থেই একজন অধ্যাপক? ব্লগার হ্যারি সেলডন এ প্রশ্নের জবাব খুঁজতে গিয়েই একটি পোস্ট দেন গত ১৪ মে। যদিও গোলাম আজমের নামের শুরুতে অধ্যাপক কেন লাগানো হয় তার সঠিক ব্যাখ্যা খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়নি। মাইনুল এবং দ্বীপবালক নামক দুইজন ব্লগারের মতে তিনি রংপুরের কারমাইকেল কলেজে বাংলার অধ্যাপক ছিলেন। কিন্তু সেটার সাল তারিখ জানাতে পারেননি এবং সরাসরি কেউই অধ্যাপক হতে পারেন না এটা বলার পর তারা যুক্তি দেন – সম্মান করেই গোলাম আজমকে অধ্যাপক বলা হয়। প্রত্যুত্তরে হ্যারি সেলডন সহ আরো অনেকেই বিষয়টা মেনে নিয়ে আবারো জিজ্ঞেস করেন তবে গোলাম আজম নিজে থেকেই তার নামের শুরুতে অধ্যাপক জুড়ে আত্মজীবনী লেখাটা হাস্যকর কোনো কাজ কিনা? এর কোনো জবাব পাওয়া যায়নি। অনেক ক্ষেত্রে প্রফেসরদের টিচিং এসিস্ট্যান্টদেরও অধ্যাপক বলা হয় – ওই দুই ব্লগারের এ মন্তব্য পোস্টে ব্যাপক হাসির খোরাক যুগিয়েছে।

এবারের মা দিবসে সামহোয়ারে অনেক আবেগপূর্ণ পোস্ট পড়েছে। তবে ১২ তারিখে ব্লগার প্রত্যুৎপন্নমতিত্ত্বের ’আমার মায়ের সাতটি মিথ্যা কথা’ পোস্টটি সকলের হৃদয় ছুঁয়ে গেছে। না খেয়ে খেয়েছি বলা, অসুস্থ থেকেও সুস্থ আছি বলা, ক্ষুধা নেই বলে মিথ্যা বলা আমাদের এইসব মিথ্যেবাদী মায়েদের ভালোবাসার কথা ব্লগার প্রত্যুর কল্যাণে সবারই ভাবনার উদ্রেক করেছে। মা দিবসে প্রতিটি ব্লগারই স্মরণ করেছে তাদের মায়েদের কথা, তাদের পরম মমতার কথা।

ব্লগাররা নিশ্চয়ই জানেন চীনে সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে মারাত্মক ভূমিকম্পে হাজার হাজার মানুষ মারা গেছেন, এখনো নিখোঁজ রয়েছেন অনেকে। কোনো কোনো শহরের কোনো শিশুই বেঁচে নেই। এই মারাত্মক ভূমিকম্পের আঁচ এসে লেগেছে ব্লগেও। ব্লগার ব্লুজ চীনে থাকেন এবং তিনি বর্ণনা করেছেন তার পোস্টে কিভাবে তিনি ওই ভূমিকম্পের সময়টুকু পার করেছেন।

যায়যায়দিন পত্রিকা থেকে শফিক রেহমানের বিদায়সংক্রান্ত এবং ব্যক্তি শফিক রেহমানকে নিয়ে নানা ধরণের পোস্ট পড়েছে সামহোয়ারে গত সপ্তাহে। পোস্টগুলো পর্যবেণ করে বোঝা যায় শফিক রেহমান অত্যন্ত জনপ্রিয় বুদ্ধিমান একজন সাংবাদিক ছিলেন। বিশেষ করে তরুণদের অণুপ্রাণিত করতে এবং তাদের সুযোগ দিয়ে তিনি অগ্রণী ভূমিকা পালন করতেন। কিন্তু এতোসব কিছুর পাশাপাশি তার বানানরীতি এবং রাজনৈতিক মতাদর্শের জন্যও সমালোচিত হয়েছেন ব্লগে বিভিন্ন পোস্টে। জনপ্রিয় যায়যায়দিন পত্রিকার নতুন সম্পাদকের উপর ভরসা করা যাবে না বলেও অনেক ব্লগার মন্তব্য করেছেন। এদিকে ব্লগার জামালাভাষ্করও লিখেছেন বিশ্বসাহিত্যের কেন্দ্রের অধ্যাপক সায়ীদকে নিয়ে তার সিরিজ পোস্ট ’আমার কেন্দ্রকথা’।

১৪ মে নাস্তিকের ধর্মকথা লিখেছেন ’ধর্মে বিজ্ঞান : নিম গাছে আমের সন্ধান’। এই পোস্টে তিনি বিজ্ঞান কর্তৃক ধর্মগ্রন্থগুলোর ব্যাখ্যার অসাড়তা তুলে ধরেছেন। বিভিন্ন ধর্মগ্রন্থের অনুবাদ তুলে দিয়ে তিনি দেখিয়ে দিয়েছেন কিছু সুবিধাবাদী ধর্মবিশ্বাসীদের দ্বারা অনুদিত এইসব ধর্মশ্লোক বা আয়াত কোনোভাবেই বিজ্ঞানের সঙ্গে সম্পর্কিত নয়।

এদিকে আব্দুর রাজ্জাক শিপন নিয়মিত প্রকাশ করে যাচ্ছেন কবিতা নিয়ে তার সিরিজ ’ভালো লাগা প্রিয় কবিতারা’ এই শিরোনামে। কবিতাপ্রেমীদের জন্য এটা নিঃসন্দেহে একটি দারুণ কালেকশান।

গ্লোবাল ভয়েস বাংলা ভার্সনে এবার প্রথম খবরটি হচ্ছে ভারতের জয়পুরে বোমা বিস্ফোরণ। এতে জানা যায় তিন শতকের ইতিহাসে এই প্রথম গোলাপী শহর জয়পুরে পরপর ৫টি বোমা বিস্ফোরণে এখন পর্যন্ত ৬০ জনের বেশি লোক মারা গেছে, আহত ১৫০ এর উপরে। বিভিন্ন ব্লগে এই বিস্ফোরণ সম্পর্কে অনেকেই মন্তব্য করেছেন। পাকিস্তানের এক ব্লগার এই হামলার কারণে পাকিস্তানের দিকে ইঙ্গিত না করার অনুরোধ জানিয়েছেন। ইন্ডিয়ান মুসলিম ভারতে পূর্বের সন্ত্রাসী হামলাগুলোর যথাযথ তদন্ত এবং ফলোআপ না হওয়ার কারণে এ ধরণের সন্ত্রাসী হামলা বৃদ্ধি ও তার রোধ করতে সরকাররে ব্যর্থতার সমালোচনা করেছেন।

এদিকে চীনে বেড়ে চলছে ভূমিকম্পের কারণে য়তির আরো ব্যাপক আশংকা। সরকারি হিসেব মতে সিচুয়ান প্রদেশের এই ভূমিকম্পে প্রায় ১২ হাজার মানুষ মারা গেছে। এই পোস্টে ভূমিকম্পের আগের ও পরের ছবি দেয়া হয়েছে। ভূমিকম্পের কেন্দ্রের ৩টি শহরের কোনো খবর এখন পর্যন্ত পাওয়া যায়নি। স্কুলকলেজগুলো ধ্বসে গেছে এবং এখনো কোথাও কোথাও ভূমিধ্বস চলছে।

দৃষ্টিপাতের ব্লগে অনেকদিনপর এবার কিছু নতুন লেখা এলো। এই ব্লগের প্রথম পোস্ট হলো ’ভূগর্ভে পানি সঞ্চয়’ লিখেছেন মিয়া মোহাম্মদ হুসাইনুজ্জামান। আমাদের প্রাত্যাহিক কাজের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় পানির বেশিরভাগই সংগৃহীত হয় ভূগর্ভস্থ পানির উৎস্য থেকে। কিন্তু ক্রমবর্ধমান চাহিদার কারণে এই ভূগর্ভস্থ পানির স্তরে পরিমাণ কমে যাচ্ছে। মিয়া মোহাম্মদ হুসাইনুজ্জামান এই পোস্টে এই ভূগর্ভস্থ পানির বৈশিষ্ট্য, উদ্দেশ্য, লাভ-তির হিসেব কষেছেন।

পৃথিবীতে বর্তমানে খাদ্যের এই সংকটের কারণ কি? কারণ আর যাই থাকুক এর মধ্যে একটি কারণ হচ্ছে ইথানল। সুবিনয় মুস্তফী তার ’খাড়ার ঘা – জৈবজ্বালানী ইথানলের কথা’ শিরোনামের লেখায় এমনটিই বলেছেন। পেট্রল ও ডিজেলের বিকল্প জ্বালানি হিসেবে ইথানলের উৎপাদন হচ্ছে। মধ্যপ্রাচ্যের তেলের উপর নির্ভরশীলতা কমাতে পৃথিবীর ইথানল উৎপাদনকারী সবচেয়ে বড় দুটি দেশ ব্রাজিল এবং আমেরিকা এতে অনেকটুকু সফল হয়েছে। ব্রাজিলে ই্যু থেকে ইথানল উৎপাদন করা হয় এবং এতে তারা এতোটাই সফল হয়েছে যে সরকার ঘোষণা দিতে চাইছে যে ব্রাজিল জ্বালানিখাতে স্বয়ংসম্পূর্ণ হতে চলেছে। কিন্তু অন্যদিকে আমেরিকায় ভুট্টা থেকে ইথানল উৎপাদন করা হলেও অভিযোগ উঠেছে এতে জ্বালানি সুবিধা নিশ্চিত হলেও খাদ্যের মূল্য বেড়ে যাচ্ছে। জানা গেছে আমেরিকানরা তাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনে যা কিছু কেনে তার ২৫% ভুট্টা বা ভুট্টজাত খাদ্যদ্রব্য। তাই ভুট্টা থেকে ইথানল উৎপাদনের কারণ্যে খাদ্যের মূল্য বাড়ছে এবং পৃথিবীর অন্যান্য প্রান্তেও এর অশুভ ঢেউ আঘাত হানছে বলে বিশেষজ্ঞরা মতপ্রকাশ করেছেন।

মুক্তিযুদ্ধ আমাদের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ চেতনা, আমাদের অদম্য সাহসের গল্প। কিন্তু আমাদের নতুন প্রজন্ম কতোটুকুই বা জানে এই মুক্তিযুদ্ধ সম্পর্কে। ইতিহাসের বিকৃতি ঘটছে চারিদিকে, সঙ্গে আছে এর বিরোধীতাকারী জামাতে ইসলামীসহ নানা দলমতের হায়েনার মতো নিভৃত পদচারণা। প্রতিনিয়ত প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ করছে আমাদের মহান অর্জন মুক্তিযুদ্ধকে। কিন্তু এসব ষড়যন্ত্রের বিরুদ্ধেও এগিয়ে আসছেন অনেকেই। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সেই সময়কার কথা, ইতিহাস, ছবি নিয়ে গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে একটি চমৎকার আর্কাইভ জেনোসাইড বাংলাদেশ।

এবারে আসা যাক আমারব্লগ.কম এ। এখন পর্যন্ত বেটাভার্সন চলছে এ সাইটটির। ব্লগারদের অনেক অনুযোগের পর এর ডেভেলপাররা আরো বেশি সচেষ্ট হয়েছেন ইউজারদের জন্য সাইটটিকে আরো বেশি করে ইউজার ফ্রেন্ডলি করতে। এরই ল্েয বিরামহীন কাজ চলছে আমারব্লগের। ফ্রন্টপেজের আমূল পরিবর্তন সহ বাংলা কীবোর্ড সংযোজন এবং আরো নতুন সব ফীচার নিয়ে আমারব্লগ অচিরেই উপহার দিতে যাচ্ছে বাংলা ব্লগিংয়ে আরেকটি নতুন সম্ভাবনাময় প্লাটফরম। এর উদ্যোক্তাদের সঙ্গে কথা বলে জানা গেছে নিয়মিত ব্লগিং ছাড়াও আমারব্লগ থেকে সামাজিকভাবে অনেক প্রকল্প গ্রহণ করা হবে। সেসব প্রকল্পগুলোর সবকিছুতেই ব্লগারদের অংশগ্রহণই হবে মূল কথা। আপনি যদি এখনই নিক রেজিস্ট্রেশন করে না থাকুন তবে এখনই www.amarblog.com  এ আজই রেজিস্ট্রেশন করুন।

It’s an embarrassing labour scandal for Telenor, which itself is majority-owned by the government of Norway, a country that prides itself on championing fair labour conditions and human rights.

It also reflects poorly on Grameen Telecom and Grameen Bank, which own 38 percent of GrameenPhone (Telenor has 62 percent) and which were founded by Peace Prize-winner Yunus not least to help lift people in Bangladesh out of abject poverty through the micro-credit system.

The documentary, made by Danish journalist Tom Heinemann and to be aired on Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) Thursday evening, reveals shocking working conditions at the firms supplying GrameenPhone. Employees were shown working with hazardous chemicals and heavy metals virtually without protection. Workers were as young as 13 years, a clear violation of child labour laws. The firms were caught allowing polluted wastewater to spill into nearby rice fields.

And in one case, a worker was killed when he fell into an unsecured pool of acid.

Telenor, clearly believing that the best defense is a good offense, opted to reveal some of the findings of the documentary even before it was aired. Telenor officials claim they were shaken by the documentary’s findings, and admit they failed to adequately monitor the operations of GrameenPhone’s suppliers.

“We are deeply moved by the case, and the human side of it,” Telenor chief executive Jon Fredrik Baksaas told reporters. He called the labour violations “completely unacceptable,” claiming Telenor had trained the firms in health and safety issues. “But we’ve clearly been bad about following up afterwards,” Baksaas admitted.

He neglected to mention the worker fatality, but confirmed it when questioned by a reporter from Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidende.

Telenor and the Norwegian state have generated huge profits on GrameenPhone, which has as many as 20 million customers, but Baksaas said he didn’t feel badly that the operation earns a lot on the work of poor employees. “We haven’t taken out substantial dividends on what we’ve earned in Bangladesh,” Baksaas said. “The money has gone into investments that are building up the country.”

Norway’s government minister in charge of business and industry, Dag Terje Andersen, wrote in an e-mail to Aftenposten that the working conditions shown in the documental “assuming they are accurate, clearly are unacceptable.”

Andersen claimed, however, that Telenor has worked actively for years to make its own ethical regulations part of all operations, also those at suppliers. “It looks like the follow-up on the part of Telenor was inadequate,” he wrote. Telenor has since conducted inspections at five suppliers of mobile telephone masts, and has fired one of them.

Telenor and Yunus have been involved in a long-simmering conflict over ownership of GrameenPhone. Yunus has wanted Telenor to reduce its stake.

দীর্ঘ এক সপ্তাহ পর আবার আপনাদের সামনে এসেছি এ সপ্তাহের ই-বাংলাদেশ ব্লগভিউজ নিয়ে। আন্তর্জালের বাংলাব্লগ সংক্রান্ত সংবাদগুলি আপনাদরে সামনে তুলে ধরাই আমাদের উদ্দেশ্য। ই-বাংলাদেশ ব্লগ ভিউজে ব্লগ ছাড়াও বাংলায় পরিচালিত বিভিন্ন ওয়েবসাইটের খবরাখবরও আপনাদের জানানো হবে। তো শুরু করা যাক ব্লগ ভিউজ ।

প্রথমেই সচলায়তন। ৮ মে ছিল রবীন্দ্রনাথের জন্মদিন। সচলায়তনে কবিগুরুর জন্মদিন উপলক্ষে বেশ কয়েকটি পোস্ট লেখা হয়। এরমধ্যে নুরুজ্জামানা মানিকের কবিগুরুর রঙ্গরসিকতা পোস্টটি বেশ মজার। হাস্যরসিক কবিগুরুর জীবনের বিভিন্ন সময়ের মজার টুকরো ঘটনাগুলো এখানে তুলে ধরা হয়। আখতারুজ্জামান ইলিয়াসের রবীন্দ্রনাথকে নিয়ে একটি লেখা পোস্ট করেছেন মুহম্মদ জুবায়ের। এতে আখতারুজ্জামান রবীন্দ্রনাথ সম্পর্কে লিখেছেন, স্বাধীনতার পর বাংলাদেশে তরুণদের মধ্যে পাশ্চাত্যের ব্যান্ড মিউজিক জনপ্রিয়তা পেলেও তার চেয়ে রবীন্দ্রসঙ্গীতের চর্চা বেড়েছে অনেক বেশি এবং রবীন্দ্রনাথকে বর্জন কিংবা ছোট করার অপচেষ্টা সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ মানুষের সমর্থন কখনো পায়নি। এছাড়া মাঝে মাঝে রবীন্দ্রচর্চায় যে বিঘ্নের সৃষ্টি করা হয় তা স্পষ্টতই সাম্রাজ্যবাদ ধর্মান্ধদের উৎপাত এবং এইসব ইতর লোকদের বিরুদ্ধে একটু সংঘবদ্ধ হলেই তারা গর্তে ঢুকে পড়ে। আখতারুজ্জামানের এই লেখাটি ১৯৯৬ সালের ৮ ডিসেম্বর জাতীয় জাদুঘরে ঢাকা সঙ্গীত মহাবিদ্যালয়ের বার্ষিক সম্মেলনে পাঠ করা হয়েছিল। সুমন চৌধুরীর রবীন্দ্রনাথ সংক্রান্ত একটি পোস্টে তিনি সত্যজিৎ রায় নির্মিত রবীন্দ্রনাথের উপর ডকুমেন্টারিটি আপলোড করেছেন। আগ্রহীরা দেখে আসতে পারেন। গাস্ত রোবের্জের সাক্ষাতকার প্রকাশ করেছেন সচল ফারুক ওয়াসিফ। সম্প্রতি তার একটি নতুন বই বেরিয়েছে সাইবারবাণী : বিয়িং হিউম্যান ইন দ্যা নিউ মিডিয়া নামে। সিনেমার মানুষ গাস্ত রোর্জের প্রস্তাব করেছেন সপ্তাহে অন্তত একদিন মিডিয়া অর্থাৎ টিভি, রেডিও, সংবাদপত্র, সিনেমা, কমপিউটার থেকে যেন আমরা দূরে থাকি। তার মতে এতে করে আমাদের মিডিয়া কর্তৃক আক্রান্ত স্বাধীনতাকে কিছুটা হলেও অনুভব করতে পারব। শিশুদের অতিমাত্রায় কমপিউটার নির্ভরশীলতা দেখে তিনি শংকিত। সমৃদ্ধ এই সাক্ষাৎকারে গাস্ত রোবের্জ বলতে চেয়েছেন অতিমাত্রায় প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর হয়ে সমাজ পরিবর্তন সম্ভব নয়।

আসছি সামহোয়ারইনব্লগ। টিভিতে প্রচারিত হাতে টয়লেট কিনার নিয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা সুন্দর রমণীরা বাস্তবে সত্যিই কমোড পরিষ্কার করেন। অথবা পুরুষরে প্রাণ কার জন্য বেশি পোড়ে – কোলা না নারী? অথবা শ্বশুরকে পরিবেশিত চায়ের স্বাদের ফলাফল নিয়ে নারীর শংকিত হওয়া কি পুরুষতান্ত্রিক সমাজের আধিপত্য কে ইঙ্গিত করে না? এরকম অসংখ্য প্রশ্নের অবতারণা করেছেন ব্লগার ফাহমিদুল হক তার সাম্প্রতিক বিজ্ঞাপন ও নারী এই শিরোনামের পোস্টে। বিজ্ঞাপনে নারীদের এরূপ ব্যবহারের কারণ হিসেবে ফাহমিদ বলেছেন, পুরুষদের যৌনতার প্রবৃত্তিকে নাড়া দেবার জন্যই নারীদের সৌন্দর্য্যকে ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে। বিজ্ঞাপনে নারীদের অবস্থান সমাজের বাস্তব অবস্থার চেয়ে অধস্তন হিসেবে প্রদর্শন বন্ধ করার জন্য তিনি সরকারকে বিজ্ঞাপনবিষয়ক জেন্ডার-সংবেদনশীল নীতিমালা প্রণয়ণের সুপারিশ করেছেন।

স্কুলের এ্যাসেম্বলীতে জাতীয় সঙ্গীতের সঙ্গে ঠোঁট মিলিয়ে গাওয়ার অভিনয় করা এবং পরণেই স্যারদের চোখে ধরা পড়ে বেতের বাড়ি খাওয়া – আর এভাবেই রবীন্দ্রসঙ্গীতের সঙ্গে আমার প্রথম সংঘাতময় ভালোবাসা তৈরি হয়। ঠিক এভাবেই রবীন্দ্রজন্মবার্ষিকীতে রবীন্দ্রনাথকে স্মরণ করলেন ব্লগার মৃদুল মাহবুব। বাঙালির বেড়ে ওঠায় রবীন্দ্রনাথ কিভাবে ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িয়ে থাকে সেটারই বর্ণনা দিয়েছেন মৃদুল তার পোস্টে।

রবীন্দ্রনাথ বিষয়ে জামাল ভাস্করও একটি পোস্ট দিয়েছেন একজন রবীন্দ্রনাথ আর বিদ্যমান বাস্তবতার বিবরণ শিরোনামে। ব্লগার রাগিব বাংলা উইকি থেকে রবীন্দ্রনাথের জীবনী নিয়ে একটি পোস্ট দিয়েছেন। রবীন্দ্রনাথের স্বার এবং তার বিভিন্ন বয়সের ছবিসমৃদ্ধ এই পোস্টটি এখনই আপনার প্রিয় পোস্টে যুক্ত করুন।

অন্যদিকে ইসলাম আদৌ শান্তি বা অশান্তির ধর্ম কিনা – এ নিয়ে বেশ কিছুদিন ব্লগ হালকা উত্তপ্ত ছিল। এ বিষয়ে পে বিপে বা নিরপে অবস্থান থেকে প্রতিটি ব্লগার ব্যাখ্যা দেয়ার চেষ্টা করেছেন। সবশেষে ব্লগার হ্যারি সেলডন ব্যক্তিগতভাবে আরেক ব্লগার আরিফুর রহমানের সঙ্গে একটি চমৎকার ডিবেটের জন্য আলাদা একটি পোস্ট দেন। অন্যান্য ব্লগাররাও সানন্দে সেই পোস্টে অংশগ্রহণ করছেন। আগ্রহীরা হ্যারি সেলডনের সেই পোস্টে একটু টোকা দিয়ে আসতে পারেন।

এবার আসা যাক আমারব্লগ.কম-এ। গত ২রা মে থেকে বেটা ভার্সন চালু করেছে আমারব্লগ.কম এর নেপথ্য কর্মীরা। কিছু কিছু সমস্যা রয়ে গেছে যা ডেভেলপাররা সমাধান করছেন। আন্তর্জালের অন্যান্য বাংলাব্লগিং সাইট থেকে আমারব্লগ এর পার্থক্য রয়েছে। অন্যান্য ব্লগিং সাইটে আপনার নিজস্ব কোনো ডোমেইন এড্রেস থাকে না যেখানে আমারব্লগ আপনাকে একটি ডোমেইন দিচ্ছেন। ধরুন আপনি Example নামে নিক রেজিস্ট্রেশন করলেন। এখন আপনার ডোমেইন হবে www.example.amarblog.com – অনেকটা ব্লগস্পটের মতো। অন্যান্য বাংলা ব্লগিংসাইটের সকল সুবিধা তো পাচ্ছেনই। আর তাই দেরি না করে আজই রেজিস্ট্রেশন করুন www.amarblog.com -এ। আপনার পরামর্শ ও নিয়মিত ব্লগিং আরো সমৃদ্ধ করবে উদ্যোক্তাদের।

সুপ্রিয় শ্রোতা আজ আপনাদের দুইটি বাংলা সাইটের সঙ্গে পরিচয় করিয়ে দিচ্ছি। প্রথমটি হলো এ্যামনেস্টি ইন্টারন্যাশনাল এর বাংলা ভার্সন। এর এড্রেস হলো www.bangla.amnesty,org এখান থেকে আপনি জানতে পারবেন বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন স্থানের মানবাধিকারের নানা খবর। অন্যটি হলো www.nogorbalok.com স্কুলপড়ুয়া কিছু ছেলেমেয়েদের উদ্যোগে বেটা ভার্সন চলছে এই সাইটের। পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি নিয়মিত ব্লগিং বা ব্লগিং চর্চাকে কিভাবে তাদের পড়াশোনার উন্নতিতে সহায়ক ভূমিকা রাখতে পারে সেই লক্ষেই এই সাইটটি চালু হয়েছে। এর উদ্যোক্তাদের বেশিরভাগই এখন স্কুলছাত্রছাত্রী। পথসভা নামে তারা একটি অনলাইন স্টাডি প্লেস তৈরি করেছে যেখানে তারা তাদের পড়াশোনার বিষয়ে সবার সঙ্গে সহযোগিতা করবে। ই-বাংলাদেশ ব্লগভিউজের পক্ষ থেকে তাদের উদ্যোগকে আমরা সাধুবাদ জানাচ্ছি।
