E-Bangladesh Desk News: Threat UK Based Bangladeshi journalist, blogger, cultural activist Juyel Raaj got death threat for his blogging activities and journalism. He intends to travel Bangladesh and posted his tickets in his Face book profile on 17th June. On his post he received a few arrogant comments including death threat for not to travel Bangladesh. He was mentioned as an atheist and blamed for writing about Islamic religion.

Sumi Akther Urmi and Ashraul comments and threatened on the post that Mr Raaj would be slaughtered if he arrived in Bangladesh. Mr Raaj said to ebangladesh that; The blog is designed to share and exchange opinions, ideas regarding prevalent topics in our society that concerns the common public and the wider population. Often opinions shared/disclosed may not conform to the views of certain organisations with certain beliefs or certain individual. I believe living in a democratic society it is our earnest belief that freedom of speech is a fundamental right and anyone who wishes to exercise that right should not be subjected to fear or repercussions. I have changed my plan to visit Bangladesh due to unwanted situation. Mr Raaj added again, if you are outspoken in your opinions, then you are at threat and therefore at risk of losing your life for publicly sharing an opinion, which concerns the community and society, we live in. Juyel Raaj working as a London Correspondent of Daily Manab Kanta, and Jugoveri, Bangladesh, News Editor of Fortnightly Brick lane, UK
