In 2012 Bangladesh has experienced some demos that were organisied in a bit different way. There were quite a number of human chains where gathering was solely dependent on social media channels. Bloggers arranged those human chains using the other social media channel Facebook.
But the milestone event took place just in the eleventh hour of the year. That was the identification of an eve teaser by a blog. The Amarblog did the brave journalistic piece. It happened through a blog post by a blogger named Sushanta.
The blog post by Sushanta was an effort to identify the eve teaser with the help of fellow bloggers. He wrote the post following a video that went viral on Facebook. A Facebook user named Irfan had posted a video of an eve teasing incident to create awareness among the social media users. The video showed that a teen aged boy had been approaching a girl with a bunch of flower. Naturally the girl looked a bit shy in the event. But as someone advances with the video he/she discovers that all on a sudden the boy slaps the girl.
Eventually Sushanta, with his fellow bloggers, managed to identify the boy- Srjan Ahmed. His father is a police officer who is right now the officer-in-charge at the Dhunat thana in Bogra – a district in the northern part of Bangladesh.
Presence of black board in the room and noise of laughter proves that there were a few more people in the room. Someone from the audience had captured the video and uploaded it first to the Youtube then to the Facebook. Irfan raised a question if users should learn what to share on social media or not.
Eventually Sushanta, with his fellow bloggers, managed to identify the boy- Srizon Ahmed. His father is a police ifficer who is right now the officer-in-charge at the Dhunat thana in Bogra – a district in the northern part of Bangladesh. They also managed to find out the ‘videographer’ and the boy who posted on it social media channels. It reavels that the incident took place on October 2010 and immediately the video was uploaded to Youtube.
