The government should follow in the footsteps of countries like India who are expert in marketing their traditions to foreigners, regardless of their origins, and even manufacturing traditions by officially labelling certain art forms as 'classical' that are not! This is because they understand the value of heritage and it's attraction to tourists. The mullah's want to obliterate Bangladesh's south asian heritage, encompassing many different civilisations and periods of history. Islam in Bangladesh could not exist without the likes of Lalon who wrote distinctly about rural life in Bengal, allowing a means of expression/protest for the oppressed peasantry. Bangladeshi's cannot masquerade as something they are not - we have our own roots that need to be respected. I thought Bangladesh wanted to encourage tourism? His commitment to God was much more than common persons. Lalon Chaatar in airport is the correct manifestation of our culture . In many places of the world Bangladeshi community along with Rabindra Nazrul songs include Lalon Geet to project our culture among multicultural society. Our illiterate mullahs who actually do not practise Islam in their true perspectives intentional do not recognise the difference between sculpture and images.In many different Islamic countries like Iraq, Iran, Egypt ,Algeria there are several sculpture to project national history , culture and tradition.These mullahs can kill people in the name of religion without instigation, they brainwash young people asking them to become suicide bombers. In 1971 likes of them killed innocent people, raped our sisters and mothers. Now they dare to destroy our Shika Aneerban, Sheeka Cheeronton .I appeal to sensible Bangladeshis to forge unity against these venomous snakes and pull our t their venomous teeth once for all. Lalon, Rabindranath,Nazrul,Jaseemuddin, Sukanta, Jeebonanando, Shashur Rahman , Joynal Abedin are our treasure There a is no harm, no conflict with any religious belief in remembering them in any form.Down with munafiques, own with religious traders who misinterpret religion to serve their vested interest.
